About Mary

Mary Hong is the 2014 South Walton Artist of the Year and a full-time working artist cracking up glass in her studio/gallery in Grayton Beach Florida.   She has amassed a collection of over 4000 pounds of blown glass, sheet glass, recycled glass, stained glass, glass test tubes, vintage glass swizzle sticks, glass tiles, glass beads, glow-in-the-dark glass, and “really pretty” glass.   A creative glass freak since 1999, her work graces the walls and rooms of many of Florida’s finest homes and establishments, with one-of-a-kind glass panels,  wall and window mosaics, and mixed media glass creations. After 13 years working as a glass artist, Mary wanted to create a glass studio that could offer exciting classes in kiln-formed glass and glass mosaics to communities in her area.  About 6 years ago Mary started painting and loved her lightweight canvas, but she missed her glass!  She developed a simple and long-lasting method to bring glassy life to her paintings.  Her sold out classes have brought inspiration to so many people she decided to share her classes online at MarysGlassTechniques.com.  If you’re ever in Northwest Florida, you can see her in action in the Grayton Arts District off Hwy 283 between Hwy 98 and 30A.
